Dragon and Lion Dance Performances
Lion Dance 舞狮：
Lion Dance is a form of tradition dance in Chinese Culture that had long history and tradition where performers mimic a lion’s movements in pair to bring prosperity and good fortune to the people.
Lion dance performance is highly sought after during the Chinese New Year and other important Chinese traditional, cultural or religious festivals. Other important occasions such as Business opening events, special celebrations, or wedding ceremonies and/or may be invited to honour important guest by the Chinese communities.
Mainly, there are 2 forms of the Chinese Lion Dance, namely the Northern Lion and the Southern Lion.
Dragon Dance 舞龙：
Dragon is a mystic feature in the Chinese Culture and has been treated as an auspicious feature in the past history. Therefore it is most often seen in festive celebrations.
The dance has to be performed by a team of experienced dancers who will manipulate a long flexible figure of a dragon attached to poles positioned along the length of the dragon, moving in imagined movements with the accompanist of drums and cymbals (鼓乐).
Dragons are believed to possess supreme qualities which encompassed great power, dignity, fertility, wisdom and auspiciousness.
Festive Drums Performances 节令鼓：
Festive Drums are created based on the 24 festivals in the lunar calendar of the Chinese agricultural community.
Therefore the complete set is that of 24 drums, with each drum representing one festival, which for thousands of years guided the agricultural activities of the Chinese community.
Today, it is being showcased in many occasions such as roadshows, openings, and auspicious occasions, etc.
